What has KM become?

Main Post:

It seems like all of the updates for this game just end up nerfing various ways you can play. Farming gets weaker every update, Economy is getting weaker and more delicate every update, there are to many premium things to collect or they are over priced to buy. Research is getting more difficult or expensive or restricted every update. High quality NPC camps have been removed over the years, or high performing troops are nerfed (or removed in case of balistors and lancers), every update.

Mining has been restricted continuously over the years. This has created a barrier to entry, where new players end up smashing their head against a wall over and over and asking how they pass the pay walls and live to compete with people.

There was a time where spending in this game didn't equal growth that meant others couldn't compete with you, no, spending meant you had more fuel for the fires of war and you could compete as long as you had some gas in the tank.

These opinions usually are treated with contempt, we as players have worked for so much over the years in this game, spending and grinding for it all to be taken away and compensated for the in bare minimum of compensation. Players who have been playing longer than I have lost more and now I know why people are so disenheartened over these dragons. Like yay! We finally got there, but now there's another insurmaounable paywall. Another chasm, another divide between the casual player and those who spend up to dominate everyone else. Some forward thinking people have already realised what this content means. Over the next few months these feelings will take over.

The game is very deep, but also becoming more narrow over time. I loved the bones of this game, but the development direction has continuously headed toward an end result of producing a game that feels like it doesn't want to be played.

I just wanted to see the game succeed, and I think part of that would be to see an update where the list of possible viable strategies expands instead of contracts. An update where it doesn't feel like the devs are playing whack a mole with strong playstyles and expecting players to cough up significant sums of cash to hop on their newest gravy train. All dragons seem to be is a cash = reward. Everyone else can play with them but they don't do much. I miss my balistors lancers and purple gear that was taken away.

No mobile game should be charging this much.

KM PicoDrive core crashes when launching 32x Games

Main Post:

Hi everyone,

I have been trying to get 32x games on my PSC to work and the KM PicoDrive core keeps crashing. I went to his GiHub site but man is the navigation to find the updated core a pain, I cannot find the cores in any of the links due to the way it is organized.

Can you please help me out?

I am so close to getting it setup for my kids and this is the last issue I am running into. I appreciate any help.

Please explain. Do you get a black screen on Sega 32X games?

Are you using RetroBoot StandAlone 1.2.1?

If so, YES, the PicoDrive core present on the pack is not working. I got a recent version from KFMDmecanic direct download links. If you want I can send mine. Drop me a private message.

Regards,

G.

Does any other games like PF:KM exist? Specifically, the combination of RPG and kingdom management.

Main Post:

I know there are many similar RPGs (Baldur's Gate etc) but are there any that include kingdom management or similar mechanics at the same time?

I really like the combination and I'm wondering if there's other games I should play too.

Top Comment: The closest I can think of is NWN2-ToZ. It's not a kingdom, but you do end up managing a business.

Some thoughts on KM vs WoTR

Main Post:

I started first on WoTR and absolutely love it, so far have sunk 300+ hours into the game. Im not even that bothered about the 2023 release date of BG3, I am having so much fun with Pathfinder (playing at the speed of Dad).

Have enjoyed it so much, I thought I would give Kingmaker a go. As much as I love WoTR, I prefer stories that arent of the "chosen one" variety, and I also feel that the mythic paths unbalance the gameplay a bit - I wanted to try the pathfinder ruleset as a typical adventurer.

So far there has been a lot to like - particularly the skill tests are more diverse and frequent than in WoTR which is great, made me think about skill point allocation a lot more.

I was enjoying the experience until old sycamore caves/depths. The exact same encounter (3-4 centipedes) 12 times over, in a fairly bland zone really wasnt fun. I wondered if this was something Owlcat learned from, and WoTR improved as a result.

Is Old Sycamore indicative of the rest of Kingmaker? Because I was really enjoying it up until then - but that underground area was just a boring grind.

Is it worth sticking with or back to WoTR?

So, I have adored both games. I actually very muchso identify with the "Not liking the agent of the chosen one" sort of thing. I *hate* feeling like my character becomes amazing because of *luck*. How they were born, what person happened to like how they look, or whatever. Was my same issue with Baldur's Gate. That being said, Wrath has been amazing to me despite that, I have done 12ish playthroughs.
I adored kingmaker too.. But I have only finished a single playthrough. I find that the Mythic paths and the drastic effects they can have on so many interactions can make the playthroughs so different. Without those, Kingmaker is relatively samey each time. But the story is still incredible, and I highly recommend going through it at least once! I actually think, in general, that Kingmaker had a bit more of a diverse amount of enemies. In Wrath, I feel I can only fight so many demons before getting bored of the fights. There is almost never a thought to what type of weapon buffs to take. Axiomatic and Holy will get you through damn near anything. With Kingmaker you actually go into different areas not knowing what you will be dealing with each time.

Gyro aim games?

Main Post:

Do any exist were you can take off one joycon and aim with it?

I saw this Assault chainguns km on a brief review list and I realized I'd really like a Time Crisis type game, if gyro worked on it.

Speaking of, I know it's not physical but is assault chainguns km any good?

House of the dead offers single joycon gyro mode. Though I prefer gyro using the entire controller instead.
